going blog crazy?

Hmmmmm, after all that reading (Future Shock) i'm only upto chapter 3, but it's quite a densely packed little book, it got me thinking heaps.

If our society is changing at such an accelerated pace, and we tend to feel nostalgic about the past more often than not now because of the increased condensed experiences we are increasingly having, is it really better to read and try and understand and "prepare" ourselves for the future than to stay ignorant and let things come? Future shock presents some ideas into basically allowing the reader to become aware of how our society is changing ever so rapidly and this "culture shock" idea being accelerated is just a mere pebble compared to "future shock".

Reading the first 2 chapters has already made me slightly depressed, so i'm wondering if i should consider reading any more..... i don't want to spend my life thinking too much about the future and how i should prepare for the future and how i should make sure this and that will work and be beneficial and blablablablalbalaal, there's just too much. I mean, honestly, i know that things are changing and time goes by a lot quicker, we experience more things in our lifetimes than before, and our kids will definitely be the same blblablablabl, but will worrying really make much of a difference? Will we be able to "future shock proof" ourselves any better by understanding this and reading up weird ideas of the future that might be all wrong and scare us allow us to have a more peace in our hearts? After all, everything we see, read, do builds our knowledge and understanding and experience right? And we can't ever be the same after such events no matter how hard we try, so should we still insist to learn more just to prepare for the future knowing that it will affect our quality of life up until these future events occur, if it even occurs at all?

Example: Going swimming at the beach, should you get all your shark repellant gear out, spray yourself with such and such, particularly only swim at a beach where there's a life guard, a beach where it's been closed off with nets, a beach with many people, a shallow beach, wear colours that might not be too attractive (i dunno if sharks can see colours or are in favour of particular colours) or should u just go out there and swim?

i mean, that might be over the top, but you get the idea right? I wonder what i should do? Hmmmm >.< Maybe the human flaws in me might actually help me....... good ol laziness?
